Rouhai made the remarks during his meeting with Bulgaria Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in Tehran on Monday, adding “communalities and deep ties of both nations as well as their will to develop the all-out relations have set the ground for solid tie between Iranian and Bulgarian governments and their further efforts in this regard.”
“Bulgaria could serve as a bridge connecting Iran with European countries in all fields,” stated president.
Rouhani put emphasis on furthering cooperation between private sectors, universities and scientific centers saying “Islamic Republic of Iran had great achievements in field of modern technologies and developing the ties in this field could help technologic and scientific progress of both countries.”
Terrorism and its horrible influence on the region and the world was also noted by President Rouhani; “for centuries different ethnicities with different religions have been living in peace in countries that are affected today with terrorism; tensions began when some states under pretexts of establishing democracy and “war on terror” intervened in internal issues of regional countries and fueled the flames of terror and conflict.”
He stressed the necessity to be united against terrorism to help establish peace and security and said “the US and its allies made a mistake by their interventions in the region and now the nations of the region are paying for their faults; this makes it necessary for regional states to cooperate to find a resolution for the crises.”
Borissov, for his part, underlined Sofia’s will to expand ties with Tehran and added “Bulgaria could be a gate for Iran’s entrance to the European Union.”
Pointing to Iran and Bulgaria communalities, Borissov deemed his visit to Iran as historic and said “the presence of cabinet members of economic sector, representatives of great firms as well as chairmen of state and private banks indicates that all facilities have been provided for expansion of Tehran-Sofia economic ties.”
